There is no cost for discussion groups, classes, activities and most exercise programs offered through the LAPSG.

This is possible due to the generosity of our donors.

Unless specified otherwise, activities and classes are held at Crestwood Christian church, 1882 Bellefonte Drive, Lexington.


Monthly Discussion Group Meetings

Lexington Daytime Discussion Group Meetings

     Held the 4th Monday of the month (except December and Memorial Holiday in May) at 12pm (noon)

     There are separate meetings for Persons with Parkinsons and Care Partners.

     Feel free to bring your lunch; drinks are provided.

Lexington Evening Discussion Group Meetings

     Held the 1st Wednesday of the month at 6pm

Somerset Discussion Group Meetings

      Held the 3rd Friday of the month at 10am

     Location: Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in the small dining room.

Richmond Discussion Meetings

     Held the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 12 pm (noon)

     Location: Baptist Health and Education Center, Harper Square, Suite A


Guest Speaker Programs

     Speaker meetings are held the 2nd Monday of the month at 12 pm, usually in September, October, March, April, and May. 

     Guest speakers share information on topics of special interest to those with Parkinson’s and their care partners.


Activities and Classes

Cycling with Parkinson's

     This class will be held each Tuesday and Thursday at 2:00 PM at the Beaumont YMCA once COVID-19 restrictions are lifted. Please stay tuned for updates. 

     You must have a medical clearance form signed by your physician prior to attending the class.


    The LOUD Crowd

     A state-of-the-art national program designed to help persons with PD, by training a person to complete a series of simple exersises that strengthen the voice and improve speech clarity and swallowing.

     The LOUD Crowd is an ongoing drop-in group with Heather Gaddis, Speech Pathologist at Baptist Health on Tuesdays at 11 AM.

     Location: Baptist Health Hospital, 1740 Nicholasville Road - Use Entrance 2 and drive to the front of the building where a valet will park your vehicle.  Enter the building and turn left at the information desk.  Walk down the hall to the North Tower.  Take the first set of elevators to the right up to the third floor.  Exit into the lobby and the classroom will be on the opposite side of the lobby across from the elevators.  Following class, cars will be returned at valet.

Aquatic Class

This class will be held each Tuesday at 2:00 PM at Cardinal Hill.    

Care partners are welcome to participate also.

P.E.P. Parkinson’s Exercise Program

     Exercise Class Every Thursday at 6pm at Cardinal Hill 

     The class is high energy and is designed for highly functioning persons with Parkinson’s and tailored to their specific needs.  

     Care Partners are welcome in this class.

Pressing on with Parkinson’s - Chair Yoga

     An exercise program led by Dyna Zehnder, a specially trained certified yoga instructor, taking place every Wednesday at 11:30 AM at Crestwood.

     Incorporates stretching, yoga, aerobic exercise and music into this class specifically designed for persons with PD. 

     Care partners also are encouraged to participate.

Sentimental Journey - Music Group 
     Sentimental Journey is a free music group that is open to all persons with Parkinson’s and their care partners.  
     No musical experience or talent is necessary to participate.  Get out of the house and join in on the fun!
This class takes place every Friday at 3 PM at Crestwood.

     An interactive program to encourage, empower and motivate persons with Parkinson’s and their care partners as they face the challenges of this progressive neurological disease. 

     Led by a inspiring 17-year Parkinson’s survivor and filled with practical tips for daily living.


     Continuing to empower those with Parkinson’s Disease and their care partners. 

     Looks deeper into cognitive changes, emotional issues, driving safety, taking control of your care, how to keep moving, and much more.

Medication Update

     A program offered annually when a neurologist and a pharmacist with specialized knowledge of Parkinson’s provide an update on medication management in PD.

Care Partners’ Retreat

     An annual half-day program designed to provide respite and relaxation for care partners.  Usually planned for April.

Gathering for the Good

     An annual half-day program to bring you the latest advances in PD care for persons diagnosed with PD, their care partners in living well with the challenges of PD.

     Planned for November.
